Why do China ISP's block your Website?
A very common question among Webmasters that deal with the chinese market is, Why do China ISP's block your Website? There are many factors that can lead to this and there are also very few things you can do to solve it.
There are two criteria for which the Chinese government use to block sites:1. Foreign sites - The "Great Firewall". This is rather blunt and can be as a result of an innocent phrase on another site on the same host or domain. So basically if your site is on a shared hosting plan with 50 website domains hosted on that 1 server then all sites will be blocked in China even though only one needed to be. You can move domains for the Chinese site which may "clean" you. Even if your site is not blocked it will take a long time to show.2. Domestic sites - domestic censorship. The Chinese government is far more leniant domestically as they can "send the boys round" if there are any problems (they did this to a number of Catholic sites recently regarding the Pope's letter to Chinese Catholics - although these sites would simply be blocked entirely if they were hosted outside China). A way to check if your website is blocked by China is to type your domain name in this site:http://www.greatfirewallofchina.org/
If it says your site is blocked, I recommend that you find a domestic hosting service and a .cn domain if you are being constantly blocked.
