Google SEO Back Link count Clean-up

This August 2008, Google has decided to really clean up irrelevant and unworthy backlinks to your websites. Many sites that had tens of thousands of backlinks now have thousands. This is because originally when Google counted the number of backlinks to your website, most links pointing to your site were from automated scripts, directories, dynamic pages in which many are duplicated. These links are ultimately useless and don't help the Google search algorithms in presenting authoritive trustworthy sites based on how 'popular' it is in the web world in which backlinks is the main metric. Therefore by eliminating the counting of all these irrelevant backlinks the user experience will be better for searchers since it will be harder for spammers and blackhat SEO gurus to manipulate Google search rankings by doing RELEVANT link spam with the use of bots and scripts and many small sites.

Google also performed a PageRank update in the first week of August 2008.

Social Bookmarking and Viral Marketing

Know your industry communities! There are many ways to increase traffic and one of the easiest and most beneficial ways in doing so is to be active in related communities. For example if you have a site on Audi Cars then it makes total sense to become a respected member on all giant Audi and Car forums around the net where most will have over 10,000 active members. Once you are a respected member you can put links to your site in your post signatures getting multiple dynamic backlinks and daily related traffic. Another way is to create social bookmark accounts (digg, stumbleupon etc) and make sure you register your content into these web 2.0 platforms so other members can view it and hopefully a viral marketing reaction will occur. Another option that is expected these days is blogging. You should set up a blog horizontal to your main site and link back to your main site from it. Then you should pursue other related bloggers in your niche topic and post comments on their blogs giving a link back to your blog so that blogger can come back to your blog and post a comment.

Do people actually make money off of Google Adsense?

The answer is yes! I know there are a lot of skeptics out there asking how a person can make a yearly living off of pennies per click on Ads that are on every website..,,but the truth is that many websites out there are making more than $100,000 USD a year with Google Adsense. There are only 2 factors needed to achieve high revenue with Adsense, High Traffic and a High Click-through-Rate (CTR). The average CTR for most sites is around 1-3%, and for sites getting pageviews per day therefore would get around 200 clicks and at an average of 15 cents per click would earn $30 USD a day. The average Pay-per-click (PPC) depends on the niche of your content and can range from an average of 5 cents for niches like celebrities to 1$ for niches like Consulting Services. The beauty of Adsense is that it is easy and simple allowing anyone with a website to use it. All you do is sign up with Adsense (Click on the Adsense button in the Right-top Column to get started) and then copy and paste some code into your website. All the colours and sizes can be edited very easily through the Adsense control panel. The next step is to get traffic, monitor your CTR and then make edits to your ad sizes, placements and colours to see how your CTR varies to help optimize it. In my experience a simple colour change in my ads from black to blue improved my CTR by 1% so it definately makes a difference.

Adsense has recently expanded its services to Cost-per-Action (CPA) which means you do not get paid whenever someone clicks on your ad but you only get paid when someone clicks on your ad and then makes a payment at the advertisers website. The conversion ratio in these type of ads is very low but big money is to be made per action (from 1$ to 50$). So if you had highly relevant traffic to the advertisers then even if 1 action converts per day you could make a good side revenue. If you want some specific tips and information on Google Adsense, please feel free to email me and I will be sure to get back to you. Thanks.

The importance of Google Pagerank

Many webmasters don't care about their sites pagerank but they don't seem to understand it's all relative. You can't really ignore or not care about Google PageRank, the reason being it acts as an indicator of how your site is coming along in Google's eyes. A high pagerank does not mean you have a high ranking on search engines, get lots of traffic and have the most links. But it does mean that you are popular on the web and you have the fundamental structure to do well in Google. The basic factor in calculating Pagerank is by counting the amount of relevant backlinks and also by the pagerank of the pages where the backlinks are located. People seem to forget that one of the main factors in increasing the rank on Search engines is the same thing, popular relevant backlinks. Thefore if your PageRank is steadily increasing then to some extent your rankings in Search Engines will be increasing too. However, most webmasters that acknowledge their PageRank use it to leverage link trades and require the site they want to exchange links with to have a similar pagerank before they trade links.

Original Content is very Important

I can't stress enough that majority of the content on your site should be 'original'. I know it can be tempting to use articles or content from partner and free article sites but in the end it wont help that much and in some cases can hurt you. We all know we need lots of good content to make our users stay longer on our sites but by using duplicate content Search Engines like Google know you are using duplicate content and therefore does not peg your site as unique and of high quality. So I am not suggesting you do not use any duplicate content but am trying to state that it would be wise to have a higher percentage of Original content as compared to Duplicate content. In the end it is a good thing that Search Engines like Google are becoming aggressive on sites with mainly duplicate content because if you start to make a site with all unique original content and another webmaster just dumps your content on his site, it wouldn't make any sense for his site to benefit on the search engines and should be penalized instead.

Why do China ISP's block your Website?

A very common question among Webmasters that deal with the chinese market is, Why do China ISP's block your Website? There are many factors that can lead to this and there are also very few things you can do to solve it.
There are two criteria for which the Chinese government use to block sites:1. Foreign sites - The "Great Firewall". This is rather blunt and can be as a result of an innocent phrase on another site on the same host or domain. So basically if your site is on a shared hosting plan with 50 website domains hosted on that 1 server then all sites will be blocked in China even though only one needed to be. You can move domains for the Chinese site which may "clean" you. Even if your site is not blocked it will take a long time to show.2. Domestic sites - domestic censorship. The Chinese government is far more leniant domestically as they can "send the boys round" if there are any problems (they did this to a number of Catholic sites recently regarding the Pope's letter to Chinese Catholics - although these sites would simply be blocked entirely if they were hosted outside China). A way to check if your website is blocked by China is to type your domain name in this site:http://www.greatfirewallofchina.org/
If it says your site is blocked, I recommend that you find a domestic hosting service and a .cn domain if you are being constantly blocked.

Potential for a Growing Hindi Language Market on the Web

hindi india seo internet
Currently we all know that Hindi is one of the most spoken languages in the world but has almost zero presence on the internet. There are two reasons for this, one being that most Indians that have access to the web also have strong english skills and therefore simply integrate with the mainstream english websites. The second reason being that there is a lack of funding and promotion for Hindi websites. However, this might slowly change! Early this week, Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh called for making Hindi a strong internet language and the development of better Hindi software and search engines. He also said books by non-resident Indian (NRI) authors should be included in the syllabi of educational institutions in India as the 8th World Hindi Conference began here on Friday. Even though I'm quite skeptical that Hindi will make a presence on the Internet so late, it is still possible and there are ways to prepare for it. All it takes is a few minutes and add a few words in hindi font to your meta-tags, headers and within main page content.
